How does Enlarged and Open Laser Pore Treatment work?

The laser induces new cell formation and collagen stimulation. This causes the pores to shrink resulting in a reduction in the appearance of fine lines. It also evens out rough skin texture. By forming new skin cells and forming new collagen, old scars are reduced in appearance. The laser also works by shrinking the veins and capillaries under skin thus reducing the persistent redness of the skin. Though this treatment is effective it is gradual in nature. A person would require 6 to 10 treatments for optimal results and a minimal of 3 to 4 treatments to see a change with an average of 30 mins per session for this treatment.

According to most of the recipients of this treatment the only side effect of this treatment is beautiful skin! But in rare cases there are temporary side effects such as swelling, transient redness, a bruise, a blister, peeling of the skin, a grazed look and hyperpigmentation / hypopigmentation. In extremely rare cases allergic type symptoms have occurred including skin rash/hives, itchiness, excessive swelling, persisting heat and skin redness. But this side effects are dependent on the individual. It is best to discuss with your doctor prior to the treatment.

The recovery period for the laser pore treatment usually takes 3 to 9 weeks before results are seen for the first treatment. This is due to the fact that the treatment is targeted for the skin cells deep inside the middle layer, hence the new skin cells take time to the reach the surface of the skin. As this happens, patients observe the improvement in the skin redness, texture, fine lines and also scarring.

However, you may possibly start seeing some changes immediately i.e. a few days after treatment. You should also remember that the treatment is cumulative which simply means; your skin’s condition continues to improve with each treatment. The time it takes to see the results can also vary depending on the person’s skin type, diet and exercise.

Large pores are hair follicle openings and they serve as an exit route for sweat and other body toxins. Due to their size, enlarged pores are clearly visible to the naked eye. This is more common in people with oily, aging skin and can easily be clogged with debris, oils like sebum, hence being more prone to breakouts.

As for what causes large pores, it is most commonly genetics. Other causes may be oily skin, and the excess oil that sits around the pores giving it the enlarged appearance. Skin which is affected by sun damage and aging thickens, opening the pores and enlarging it. Aging causes the reduction of collagen formation and elastin production, it also reduces the cell renewal activity thereby increasing the appearance of pores.

Makeup which is used to cover up the pores ironically are one of the main causes of enlarged pores. When not properly removed they attract dirt and oil causing the pores to enlarge. The makeup also causes the pores to shine.

Blackheads or comedones may not cause large pores but they are a result of them. This is due to the dirt settling in the pores, giving them the dark colour and making it more apparent to the naked eye.

As large pores are decided by genetics, you can’t totally avoid it, but you can reduce the chances of it happening by taking preventive measures. Another option is to treat it with laser treatments. Large pores can be prevented by the usage of toner, moisturisers and exfoliants  following proper makeup removal. It is best to speak to your doctor regarding the cause for the enlarged pores for advice on how to go about preventing and treating it.

Generally, enlarged pores are seen on the face. It is common to see it at the T zone of the face, which consists of the forehead and the nose and nasal bridge. This area has the largest amount of sebaceous glands on the face. This laser is effective wherever there is enlarged pores. It can even be used on the skin of the back and neck. As it is relatively safe there is no restriction to the area of skin involved.

How long does the laser pore treatment results last?

The longevity of laser pore treatment result varies from one person to another with most people experiencing sustained results that last 6-12 months. The results can however be extended in a number of ways. For example, you need to follow the personalized skin care regimen/maintenance program you are given to extend the results for even as long as a few years. In general, the duration of the results will be determined by the lifestyle you maintain, the diet you practice, exposure to sun as well as the skin care products you use. You can therefore do the following to prolong the results of laser pore treatment :

  • Avoid direct exposure to the sun. You can do this by protecting your skin with a suitable sunblock i.e. an SPF 50 broad spectrum sunblock, all year round.
  • Follow your prescribed skin care regimen/maintenance program strictly
  • Avoid drinking alcohol excessively.
  • Avoid smoking.
  • Eat a healthy/balanced diet.
  • Exercise regularly.
  • Do a single maintenance/booster treatment every 6-12 months to maintain the skin appearance and prevent new enlarged pores.

Benar-benar mempunyai pengalaman hebat dengan klinik ini. Sedang mengadakan persidangan kerja di sini dan memutuskan untuk merawat diri saya dengan rawatan parut jerawat. Disebabkan bekerja, saya tidak mampu menanggung masa henti laser yang lama oleh itu mereka mengesyorkan saya melakukan Subsicion dan beberapa suntikan. Saya harus mengatakan saya tidak pernah merasa begitu tenang dirawat oleh Doktor. Dr Ash benar-benar mahir.
